Filler treatment at Cosmo Laser

At Cosmo Laser, we offer filler treatments that reduce wrinkles and furrows, as well as nourish and stimulate the skin to build new elasticity. Fillers can also be used for purposes such as creating fuller lips or cheekbones. Get a brief overview of the different types of filler treatments here:

Facelift treatments with non-permanent filler (mid-face, lower-face, upper-face, or full face)

Non-permanent filler products are sterile injectable gels consisting of the same type of hyaluronic acid that already exists naturally in our connective tissue. For treatments that address common signs of aging, which are manifested by the face appearing tired, angry, or sagging, the treatment can be performed to have a natural lifting effect, thus reducing aging signs.

Wrinkle-reducing treatment with non-permanent filler

For treatments that reduce wrinkles, filler products are injected into problem areas, after which the hyaluronic acid integrates into the tissue and reduces fine lines.

Lip-enhancing treatment with non-permanent filler

In lip treatment with filler, the sterile injectable gel is used to improve the shape, volume, and contours of the lips. Precise injections strategically place the filler in the lips to create a fuller, more defined, and symmetrical lip shape.

#1 In Brief

Expand FAQ

At Cosmo Laser, we perform procedures such as wrinkle reduction, lip augmentation, and liquid facelifts using non-permanent fillers. Non-permanent filler products are sterile injectable gels that consist of the same type of hyaluronic acid found naturally in our connective tissues, as well as saline solution. When hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin and connective tissue, it integrates with the surrounding tissue, providing the skin with more fullness, flexibility, and vitality.

Therefore, filler treatments are highly effective in addressing wrinkles, lack of volume in areas such as cheekbones and lips, or providing a natural lift and preventing early signs of aging. Since hyaluronic acid in the skin is continually broken down, the effects of the filler will gradually diminish. The duration of the results depends on the type and amount of filler used and the person being treated.

#2 Before Treatment

Expand FAQ

During your consultation, the nurse, in collaboration with you, will create a treatment plan to ensure a harmonious, aesthetic, and natural result. Avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as fish oil, Treo, Ipren, Kodimagnyl and similar drugs for four days before the treatment, as this can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding in the treatment area.

The treatment area should be intact, without infections, wounds or irritation. It is also recommended to ensure that the skin is well-maintained before starting the treatment. Well-maintained skin responds better to treatment and can recover more quickly. Failure to adhere to the above precautions may result in treatment cancellation or postponement. In cases where there is an increased risk of side effects, we reserve the right to charge a fee of DKK 500 if the appointment is canceled later than 24 hours before the treatment or in case of no-show.

According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed before the treatment can begin.

#3 During Treatment

Expand FAQ

The treatment plan is reviewed, after which the skin is cleansed and disinfected, and the treatment area is identified. The treatment involves injecting the filler into the agreed-upon areas. For most people, the treatment is not painful, but there is usually mild to moderate pain associated with the injection itself. For treatments in the lip area and around the mouth, we recommend local anesthesia, as this area is more sensitive. Anesthesia can be administered in the clinic and requires that you arrive 20 minutes before treatment for optimal effect.

#4 After Treatment

Expand FAQ

Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, tenderness, and swelling in the treatment area. In some cases, initial skin discoloration may occur, which is normal and is due to minor blood seepage into the tissue, similar to the beginning of bruises. According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed after treatment. After treatment, there is a risk of infection in the treatment area. Therefore, it is important to avoid touching the treated area and applying makeup and creams for at least 4 hours.

Avoid strenuous physical activity for 2-3 days and saunas and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks, as the filler can degrade faster in the first few weeks after treatment. Avoid taking blood-thinning medications, such as fish oil, Treo, Ipren, Kodimagnyl, and similar drugs, for 2 days after treatment, as this can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. It takes up to 4 weeks for the filler product to be fully integrated into the tissue, after which you can see the results of the treatment.

#5 Number of Treatments and Expectations

Expand FAQ

Afhængigt af vurderingen forud for din behandling, er det forskelligt, hvor mange
behandlinger du skal have.

#6 Side Effects and Risks

Expand FAQ

Bruising usually disappears in most cases after 4-6 days. In rare cases, larger hematomas, which are blood collections under the skin, may occur. These typically disappear within 2-4 weeks. During this period, the tissue may be tender, reddish/blueish, and there may be increased swelling and unevenness in the tissue. If you are prone to frequent herpes outbreaks, an injection treatment may trigger such an outbreak. Therefore, preventive treatment is recommended. With non-permanent filler treatments, there is a small risk of infection with either bacteria or viruses. Infection is characterized by redness, tenderness, swelling of the skin, and possible fever. If an infection occurs, it will be experienced as a sudden worsening or regression in the process. The risk of infection is highest in the first few hours after treatment and can be easily treated with antibiotics. Symptoms of infection may resemble common side effects of filler treatment, but if you have any doubts, please contact the clinic. If it is outside of opening hours, please contact your general practitioner or emergency department.

There is a minimal risk of having an allergic reaction. The filler primarily consists of moisture and a small amount of lidocaine. Allergy to lidocaine is extremely rare but can, if it occurs, provoke an allergic reaction. The filler products used in the clinic can be fully integrated into the tissue. Despite this, in rare cases, filler nodules may develop in the tissue. These typically decrease and disappear over a short period and can usually be massaged away.

In addition, filler treatment can sometimes lead to granulomas, necrosis, and ischemia with the risk of blindness. It should be emphasized, however, that these cases are extremely rare, and only a few cases have been reported worldwide. These cases require medical treatment. If there are irregularities, signs of infection, or unexpected reactions in the skin after treatment, it is recommended that you contact the clinic and speak with a doctor or nurse.
